At some point, you might need to verify the integrity of your Vector platforms' files. Let's find out how to locate Vector's installation path and how this path is defined.
You will find all Vector files in the same installation path on Windows systems. The installer is redirected automatically to the default hard drive partition where the OS (Operational System) is located. So, it's not possible to select a different destination to save the file when downloading Vector.
How can I find the default installation path?
There are two ways to locate Vector's default installation path. If there is already an icon on your desktop, right-click it and select Open file location:
Or, search Vector in the Windows Start menu. Select Open file location, as shown below:
Alternatively, in Windows File Explorer, type %appdata% and press Enter:
This command will prompt the File Explorer to open the following path: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming.
Access the Vector folder to locate all Vector platforms installed on the computer:
Folders, files and dependencies are organized the same way for all versions of Vector. You may also find executable files, tool's files, and the uninstaller in the File Explorer.
Can I modify the default installation directory?
It is not possible to change or choose an alternative path. All Vector platforms use the same installation path, located in the default Windows partition. This measure prevents instability issues and potential failures.
If the directory is moved or modified in any way, the software may not work correctly due to essential Windows dependencies no longer being accessible by the software.
I don't have free disk space in my system's partition. How much space will I need to install Vector platforms?
To guarantee your OS's stability and your workstation's performance, we recommend that you allocate a separate partition with sufficient free space to install necessary system updates.
Platforms will also progressively use more disk space since they save a fraction of all available quotes locally on the default installation path. This enables fast access and better performance whenever these quotes need to be located by the platform.
We recommend at least 30 GB of free disk space on the Windows partition to save all platform files and dependencies. Verify how much space the Vector folder takes by accessing its Properties:
The platform will also display the remaining disk space at Help > Support > System Diagnostics:
What happens if there's only one disk partition?
The OS and all other files will be located in the same partition, on the file path below:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Vertex
